How often should I submit my blog to search engines?

When should I submit my domain name to Search Engines?

  • I thought we should submit our website to search engines when we have build them completely with thorough On-page optimization, however http://export.gov/sellingonline/eg_main_020784.asp says first I should submit my blank domain name to search engines then I do rest of the work e.g. choosing hosting, building website etc, is it correct????

  • Answer:

Don't bother. Spread the word on your social media sites, all the search engines worth being on (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc) will find you. I've developed dozens of websites. I've never submitted them to search engines, but all the ones that are still running can be found on Google. If you're worried about your ranking in the search engines, well, that's a whole other topic: SEO. The Moz SEO guide is a good palce to start: http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo

Other answers

It is advised that you submit the website to search engines via their submission tools once your site is on good shape. i,e once you have all the optimized content, fixed all your technical errors etc. However, this is not a hard and fast rule, as search engines are clever enough to update your website as and when they are changed/edited. But new websites might experience a delay in getting their content updated on search engines due to non-traction, so in such cases, being a little proactive might help. If you have a very popular website however, it will all work out good.
