Knowledge that I don't use right now kinda goes away. Should I concentrate on knowledge that I need right now or on what knowledge I will need in the future?

Answer:
There's one caveat that you are missing: daily use and repetition will keep knowledge that's useful. Being passionate about a topic/skill/subject will keep it alive forever. So, immediately, for income-earning activities, only the necessary and essential skills are needed to be kept current. Yet, this does not mean that you must surrender things that make your soul feel alive. For your livelihood, the skills will be changing and you will meet those and make needed adjustment when the time comes (to change career, to get promoted, etc) because no one can predict your future, so there's no need to worry about it now. Unless you foresee changes and desire them to happen.
