Why does Google not index all my pages?

Does google periodically visit pages directly once they are in its index?

  • Lets say a http://xyz.com/abc is indexed by Google because it is linked to on xyz.com's homepage.  The link to http://xyz.com/abc is then removed and no other site on the Internet links to http://xyz.com/abc.   How does Google know the status of that page?  Does it periodically visit pages in its index directly?

  • Answer:

    Yes. And it makes a cache copy of these pages too.
