Does the Wii U support RCA or component cables?

• There is a port on the back of the console where the Standard Wii RCA cables can be plugged in, but it dosen't work, the TV displays nothing when you swich to the proper input channel. There also seems to be no official RCA or component cables on sale for the Wii U, at least nothing that Nintendo puts out.
