What Is Man Power Planning?

Why doesn't Thor use his lightning power to power Iron Man's armor in The Avengers -- i.e., in the scene when Iron Man was carrying the nuke through the portal and running out of power?

• I mean, we see the same kind of thing happening when Thor stole Loki from the aircraft and the battle between him and Iron Man that followed. Thor inflicted his might of Mjolnir on Ironman and the lightning results in increasing Iron Man's suit power by 400%. So, why can't Thor help Iron Man charge the suit in similar way, towards the climax? Is it to create the dramatic effect of - last moment, last ounce of power and no hope of Iron Man's return?

  I think what happened in the scene that you mentioned was unexpected. Tony is surprised by the charge and so is JARVIS. The suit isn't designed to harness that energy and when it happened accidentally, it was ok that time. But this does not mean this is something they can do regularly without any risks. Since the suit isn't designed for it, there may be repercussions that may include Tony getting fried in the suit due to improper charging. Tony got lucky once. They probably didn't want to risk it again and kill him even before the nuke got destroyed in an attempt to do something that may not work.
