How good is a career as a Database Administrator?

I am going to start my career with TCS and am very adamant in doing some sort of certification before joining, I am confused between CCNA and Oracle certified Database administrator, though I know both are totally different. What will be the best as per salary hikes?

    Mostly, these certifications don't matter. They MAY matter at the time of Initial Learning Program (where based on certifications they'll slot you into a fancy 'Advanced ILP'). After that, it really depends on what project you get. You may specialize in tech/domain A but you get allocated to a project which uses B. If you're lucky, you may get to use your knowledge (of networking/databases, etc) in your project. But having a certificate itself does not really guarantee a salary hike. Salary hike, etc depend on your performance in a project, your duration with the company, your designation change (promotions, etc). So all the best with TCS! (:
