How To Excel Additional Mathematics?

Can you truly excel at Mathematics, or understand more "advanced" Mathematics like Calculus inside/out, if you didn't have a strong math foundation as a child?

  • Answer:

OMG, yes! Nobody learns any good math as a child! The first time people see a definition of a real number is in college. You want to learn calculus inside and out? Read about Spivak's "Calculus on Manifolds". No child can read that, and it will help you much more than anything else to *really* know what's going on. (I've read it when I was 16, but I'm exceptional.)

Other answers

No you can't. You HAVE to be very strong in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Analytic Geometry or Precalculus.  If you are not you should learn that material before taking Calculus. Also you need a strong Algebra foundation for every other college math class.
