    Aksai Chin is mostly a desert area with with little permanent inhabitants. It has Endorheic basins or salts lakes. 1. Pangong Lake: This Lake lies in the disputed Aksai Chin area. The water in the lake in saline in nature like the Caspian Sea. The Khurnak Fort which was acquired by the Chinese in 1958 lies on the northern bank of the lake. The climax scene of 3 Idiots was shot on the Indian side of these Lake in Leh. The tourist activity to the lake is limited due to the border disputes between India and China. But if India takes control of Aksai Chin area, India will have a larger control over the lake and better tourist opportunities.  2. Aksai Chin has vast stretches of salt planes.
