What are some agriculture words?

What are "logical reasons" no copyrights are paid for the use of the main "ancestral innovations": fire, words, agriculture, numbers?

  • Answer:

Well. Let's start with the fact that copyrights are for works of expression, like books or songs.  Inventions are covered by patents. Copyright lasts up to 120 years (or however long is necessary to protect Mickey Mouse, for Disney).  Patents last up to 12 years (although they can be extended for a costly fee).  Fire, words, agriculture, and numbers were all "invented" longer ago than either of those two periods. Neither the copyright or patent office existed when those items were "invented'. It would be pretty tough for an individual to prove hereditary ownership of those items.

Copyright laws govern creative works rather than technical innovations, which are governed by patents - and patent offices worldwide have a common principle of not granting patents for "obvious" uses of technology. Even if they did grant such patents, the fact that ancestral innovations were out there for centuries meant that no single "inventor" could claim to have invented them.
