What are the Pros and Cons of the Green Movement?

What are the pros and cons against the idea that a global movement exists to force humans into a sustainable and cooperative lifestyle?

  • Answer:

If you mean, should we all be afraid of Agenda 21 because Glenn Beck fears they'll come and take our houses and destroy them, I think not. The pro to a global approach is mainly that it is the only one that might work effectively. The cons are that individual countries may object to giving up any sovereignty to a multinational cooperative arrangement.  Look at what small teeth the UN has.  Some Americans (including presidents) choose to ignore international judicial findings because they will not cede the rights of their country. No global government need be created, but simple agreements on fuel sourcing and energy plans would be a good move.  Politically, the prospects are near zero given the predominance of Saudi Arabia , Iraq, and Iran, and then some politically unstable South American countries in the supply business.  They are not going to give up growth prospects before the U.S. leads the way, for competitive reasons, or perhaps even for survival in the global market, given what few other options some of these countries have in terms of resources.
