Hello everyone! I am a UG student currently in my Second year in engineering with Information Technology as a major. After I complete my Bachelors, I wish to go for graduate study. For the same, I wish to select a college that offers highest quality education. Where can I find a a complete list of universities all over the globe that is sorted and arranged according to the particular field of study I am interested in. Does any organisation does this kind of survey?

Answer:
I think finding such a list is not possible as various organisations use various metrics for ranking universities in various fields. Forbes and U.S News gives an idea of the national ranks in USA. ARWU, QS and Times ranks the universities world wide. That said, I was in a similar position 8 months back. The best thing to do is to talk with your friends, talk with professors and talk with people on internet and make an initial crude list. Once you have the crude list, you can research more about each university and find out about the pros and cons of studying there, the chances of getting into them, the professors, students etc. It is an extremely tedious job. While doing this, I highly recommend not getting carried away by the ranking of the university. For example, X may not be ranked very high, but the work in your area will be amazing. Once you have your refined list, make a list of professors you can contact for further information. Dig into their profile and see what they work on. Try reading some of their work. Dig a little more and contact their current students. They are generally more approachable and can give you a good perspective of the work in their group. Now you have a list of universities with the best profs in your field of interest custom tailored to your need. When I had done this, I had used a spread sheet to meticulously store the information. I used the same spread sheet to store information regarding application portals, GRE, TOEFL statuses and fee details. You are currently in your second year, which gives you a lot of time to think about stuff. I suggest you relax and start your search from the summer of your third year.
