Is there a marketplace like rentacoder that has research/analytics resources who can do small to midsize (1-20 hour) research and analysis projects?

  • I'm looking for a way to find someone to help with a series of ad hoc analysis projects. Sample projects might be to gather http://Compete.com statistics regarding a series of websites; or research some specified characteristics of top Twitter users; or to build a small Excel model of financial data from specified public companies based on their public filings. I need resources who are smart and trained analytical minds, like a junior Bain, McKinsey, or BCG analyst. But I'm looking for a resource that is inexpensive and can work on an ad hoc basis - i.e. probably offshore. Has anyone found a good marketplace for resources like this?

I don't know if these fit into the price range you are looking for: http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-10-24/why-hire-an-mba-when-you-can-rent-one Otherwise like the person above said, using a freelance website (Elance, etc) could work but you have to sort through a number of responses.  I have asked potential contractors to include a random work of my choosing (like 'kazoo') to make sure they read the posting - it usually eliminates half of the proposals quickly. Alternatively, you could contact a school you have a connection with and see if they have a student or two who would be good and would like some real world work.  Not a marketplace, but may be effective.

Depending on what you can afford, you can either go to freelance websites to find providers to help with the research or contract with outsourced research firms who specialize solely on performing research, to help you with the process
