How to study by textbook?

How do you effectively self-study physics using a textbook?

  • Answer:

I'm using a ALGEBRA BASED hardback Physics textbook that used to be used by the Memphis City Schools which is now Shelby County Schools. I go through each chapter very slowly, read, reread, and reread. On a regular basis, I review the study instructions for the various basic problems and the formulas that are used. I work with my textbook like I'm in a class but I'm in my own "class" where I go at my own speed and am learning the basics, learning how to use the formulas, how the formulas interact and relate to other formulas, and how to study the various problems that are presented.  I work problems until I get comfortable with them. I don't expect someone to come up to me in forth coming years asking me to share exactly what I've done on my own, but this is to develop and grow my own thinking process in handling future physics classes.
