How can we use DOJO from CDN in OpenSocial App?

Do you use Google App Engine for hosting static content?

  • I've always been interested in using Google App Engine for its easy scalability. Lately I've been looking into building apps with Angular and Parse, which eliminates the need for a scalable back end. However, you still need to host the website somewhere. Is Google App Engine still a good place for these files? For most websites, any host ought to do but all things being equal, may as well make choices that are easy later on. An alternative might be a CDN.

  • Answer:

From my research it's cheaper to host static files off google app engine especially if your site has a lot of visitors.  I don't have experience with the actual cost differential though.  But I'll be using inmotionhosting for this.  That being said,  Google App Engine makes it very easy to host static files.  https://developers.google.com/appengine/docs/python/gettingstartedpython27/staticfiles
