How to properly end a javascript statement?

How do I decide to be a web designer or javascript/front end developer or both?

  • Basically I am a creative designer/web designer but in the last couple of years I have been doing more Front End Development and now love CSS + HTML coding. Also JQuery and JavascriptI have over 8 years commercial experience I have recently been to a few interviews and to illustrate my current skill level this is the response 1) for normal web design jobs I have been getting a response that I am too senior as I can design solid, good looking sites with excellent code quality so I think I need to go for something more senior/focused 2) When I want for a senior design role my CV was impressive and the interviewers liked me but felt I needed a couple more projects in my portfolio to show my creative side more, (i.e. sketches, wireframes etc) 3) When I went to Front End developer roles they were looking for people who were very strong at Javascript, as I am not that strong with vanilla/pure javascript So I am at a point which I really am struggling to decide, in the last couple of years I have found it liberating what you can do with code but design has always been my primary focus Should I keep doing both and over the next year become an even stronger all round web designer? Or should I focus more on just design and become insanely hot at it by making it my main focus Or should I try and become a Javascript jedi? I like Javascript and love the though of the way Node JS works can in my area can see they pay so much more for Javascript developers I would be able to make apps too (phone gap) My factors that shape my decision are I am 31 with a growing family and want to pursue something that I can become good at rather than be ok at all things but master of none. Just looking for different ways to try and look at this situation

  • Answer:

Ok, So literally you are confused, right? Well why not try both and see where your passion drives you in. where you r comfortable and where you love to do your job. job must be like a fun, so you can enjoy. Cheers!

Read articles. Follow people on twitter. Get the latest trends and technology. Well with your skills and experience you do know all the design hacks and tricks. Show them. Build a portfolio. Showcase all your stuff on it. Learn Javascript (Advanced levels: Closures, Protoptyping) and try to use them and develop something. Also master a JS framework like AngularJS or Backbone with Node and you will be be welcomed everywhere. Go for a startup or atleast some architect position if you feel you know the frontend architecture well. Make it large.
