How To Sell Or Buy Ivory?

I'm looking to sell 150,000 Quora credits. How much would you be willing to spend to buy them?

  • I have 150,000 Quora credits, that are lying useless, as I don't promote any content of my own, or spend them on any worthy writers. Now, I'm willing to sell them for a price. Obviously, if you're a top writer, or  someone who spends a lot of time writing a lot of answers on this site, then I don't think you'd be willing to buy. For the others- With 150,000 Quora credits, you can promote your Quora content to reach an audience of 30,000 highly educated and intelligent consumers. Quora  credits could be leveraged to buy power and influence on the site, and a minimal financial investment now could save you time and  resources. You would effectively purchase 1500 man hours of Quora time, which would  save you the effort of garnering credits the old fashioned way. How much would you be willing to buy them for? If we reach a mutually agreeable price, we can hash out the payment logistics. P.S- Quora moderators and admins- If this is not permissible under the rules, I would still like to let it stand here as a hypothetical question.

  • Answer:

NADA = $0 Also, it is against Quora's policy to sell credits. So there's that.

Heck, I might think of buying them just to have a promotion party.  Get a few of the women from the blogs I follow in on the binge, and really shift the demographics of some of the topics.

About $1.50... but if you catch me on a night that I've been drinking I might offer as much a $15.00. The same would apply to any type of game/google/fb credits that aren't convertible to cash.

INR 1.25 You said that 1.5 Lakh Quora credits are lying useless. First Question, are you a top writer? If you were a top writer and valued your writings, you wouldn't be selling them for money. Rather you'd have used them for promoting your answers, widening your outreach in the intellectual community like Quora. Also you wouldn't have asked questions like these, 1500 man hours, seriously? Lame stats! Proves that you definitely aren't a top writer. This brings me to my next question. How did you get so many credits, without being a top writer? There is only one plausible way - creating 300 fake accounts! 300 x 500 = 150000 Since quora gives a budget refresh of default 500 credits to every user and since Quora credits are transferable, you can easily get 1.5 Lakh credits. Next question, how did you create 300 fake accounts, manually or with a script? Writing a script, outwitting Quora's fraud detection algorithms for creating so many accounts would be a tedious task. And I doubt you can do that. If you could, you wouldn't be wasting your time here, asking questions like this! Whereas manually creating these many accounts would hardly take a couple of hours. If you still agree to sell me your credits, I doubt I'll end up using them rather carelessly as they would be valueless to me, as cheap as INR 1.25. Also, as has rightly said, "Quora isn't a game to earn more credits, it's a learning experience." So I will rather let your credits lie useless, just like you. Why specifically INR 1.25? Well just for your efforts, some random holy amount we Indians believe in! Haven't you heard 'Sava Rupiye ki bhet chadha dena?' (Donate 1.25 Rupees in the name of God)

ZERO. If you approached me with an offer like this, I would first, blast your head off. Secondly, report you. And thirdly, block you. Quora isn't a game to earn more credits, it's a learning experience. Credits are motivators laced as rewards; not money points intended to gamble or sell. If you think credits are the way to roll here, YOU ARE DOING QUORA VERY VERY WRONG. Now about this description of yours - Persuasive copy there. But take this sixpence off an advertiser herself. Assumption No. 1: With 150,000 Quora credits, you can promote your Quora content to reach an audience of 30,000 highly educated and intelligent consumers." Debunking: I can do do that by writing a basic general answer mentioning 15-20 popular top writers, describing them all in one-liners, and get far more reach through their upvotes than your figures. And neither does a View indicate undivided sincere attention to any post from highly educated and intelligent consumers as you point out. Assumption No. 2: Quora credits could be leveraged to buy power and influence on the site, and a minimal financial investment now could save you time and  resources. Debunking: There is no real power or influence play here. Credits do not a popular / influential Quoran make! You can get true influence here only if you are a caring humble soul who understands the pulse of the crowd and can tap it with your consistent wit, knowledge and presence of mind. You think people follow and care about and here because.. "OMG THEY HAVE LACS OF CREDITS I MUST TOTALLY LISTEN TO EVERYTHING THEY HAVE TO SAY?!" Now referring to your mention of Power here. Let's have this very very clear. There's "The ", and then there is everyone else. Ok? Sure, seems like His Wingman and might be His Advisor. But that's it. This is where everyone draws the line. Assumption No. 3: You would effectively purchase 1500 man hours of Quora time, which would  save you the effort of garnering credits the old fashioned way." Debunking: 1500 man hours? That calculation is very warped. I see answers with one liners that have thousands of up votes today. Answers with nothing except pictures and namesake captions bag even more. Posts on blogs fetch you 100-200 upvotes easily; and all you have to do is pin a goddamn picture. There are hundreds of general-interest blogs like that today; and thousands of such pictures. Trust me earning 150k credits today is not very difficult today. (Please Note: I am in no way encouraging these practices but stating observations) Now coming to the fact that your credits are lying useless right now. I'd suggest you to give them away to or 's User Fund. They make judicious use of people's credits to promote excellent stuff over the site. Alternatively, you yourself could promote immense worthy stuff with that stash and bring to people's notice interesting answers / users from all topics and spheres. If you think this is idealist bullshit and you are only interested in minimal financial investment from me, I will give a 100$ and you give me a tool that filters only the finest and best of expert knowledge and exceptional individual stories on my feed. No memes, no unwanted pictures, no troll questions, no spam, none of it. Scrap it all for a lifetime from my feed! I don't want your Credits. Quora is a rich haven for learning and sharing fascinating things, please do not take the emphasis out of that and stress upon supplementary aspects like Being-Credit-Rich. :) This is not what Quora stands for, strives to be, or should be made into.

My friend, you too have taken quora the wrong way. I am answering on behalf of "the others" 1. I don't spend time on quora for sake of spending time on quora so there is no point in me to "effectively purchase 1500 man hours of Quora time". 2. I don't spend time on quora to earn credits. 3. If my answer is good and worthy it will get the upvotes and credits and promotion. 4. If I am full of crap audience of 30,000 highly educated and intelligent consumers will themselves discard my answer and i will end up brurning your 150000 quora creadits.
