How do I stop cracking my neck and back?

Although it provides a sense of relief, it's a sense of relief that I never needed before I started cracking either my neck or back. (I started when I was a pre-teen because I thought it looked cool.) Furthermore, both my neck and back seem to always feel stiff, like it's always in need of being cracked.

If it hurts: Try tilting your head forward a little bit and if it's a habit get rid of it. You can get rid of a habit in 30 days, and for your back if you are in a chair and your sitting, make sure your not slouching and you should sit up straight... I had that habit to until someone got on me about it.** Extra tip: stretch your back** Make sure your arm is up in the air and lean down longitude style. Or you can raise your arms in the air and pretend your climbing a ladder but sway your body side to side slowly. Try it, it really works Habit: Think of something else and distract yourself from doing so... remember you start something in 30 days which means you can get rid of it in 30 days as well.

A different perspective: is it possible there was some injury that you don't remember? I cracked my back for a long time, as a result of a car wreck that I thought was inconsequential. Some years later, I found my way to a chiropractor's office, got treated, and quit needing to crack. YMMV.
