I have heard that getting a job is very difficult after a Masters degree in UK ( Engineering). How hard is it to find a job practically? What do most Indian students do if they are not successful in their job hunt ?

Answer:
The answer to this question is highly variable depending on whether the subject you studied is in the list of skills the UK desires, and whether you, as an individual, are desirable enough to an employer for him/ her to jump the hoops that precede the hiring of a non-EU citizen into the company. There is now a points system in place in the UK under which a foreigner must "qualify" before s/he can be hired in the UK. In some industries, companies must obtain licences to be able to hire foreigners. The numbers they can hire may be restricted or limited. Non-EU workers can only remain in the UK beyond two years, if an employer continues to sponsor his/ her stay. Also the sort of positions that you wish to work in should exist in sufficient numbers for you to have a realistic chance at getting a job. I know a recent graduate, whose work is in a very specialised area of automotive research, and who was still being stymied by the fact that each open position even for internships in his target companies (of which there are fewer than fingers on one hand) receives a few thousand applications per opening. Jobs are similar. In practical terms, regardless of the http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10604117, this still requires you to find that sweet spot between a willing employer, a desirable position and your fit with the role. At this sweet spot, an employer might be willing to stretch to hire you. I am sorry if this sounds disappointing or discouraging. I could give you a ra-ra answer and you could find yourself in a very difficult spot. But knowing the factors that you are up against may give you a better idea of the preparation you need to stay in the UK and find a job, failing which you might be better placed to build a plan B, plan C etc. And if you do not find a job, leaving the UK and not violating your visa conditions is the best option. Violating your visa conditions may jeopardise your ability to return to the UK in the future, and might also make it difficult for you to get a Schengen visa to visit the EU nations who are Schengen members. One word "DIFFICULT", its very hard to get a job after doing MS in UK due to very strict visa rules. Now,its even more worst, please dont blindly go to top universities if you plan to work after your MS,an average student will easily get a top university or a dream university in UK,its simple cause the seats reserved for foreign students(students who do not belong to European Union) is vacant as many students who have planned their career well do not spend some much, going to UK and coming to vacancy of jobs, I gotta say its NIL ! U do get part time jobs but full times ones its very hard and next thing that comes up to your mind is "I'll really do well in my MS and surely I'll be meritorious and I'll get a good company to work in" ,what you think turns out to be the opposite cause one year MS any programme is very hectic and you gotta plan everything perfectly and even if you finish your MS with good grades, visa is an issue. And one more important thing is one year MS is not recognized in many countries including my country INDIA,so if you plan to work in government sector or if you plan to do PhD in India please forfeit your plan to go to UK. According,to AICTE(ALL INDIA COUNCIL OF TECHNICAL ENGINEERS) One year MS in any program is not recognized in India. So a clever Indian will analyze everything properly and will cancel his or her plan to do MS in UK and a stubborn one will go ahead and return back with a degree and work in a company in India where the salary will be the same or nearly same of a fresher who has done a M.Tech from an university in India. The reply for this question will be different for different individuals. Because there are several courses under the MS. Mainly the MS is selecting by the candidates who are graduate in engineering. So there will be several branches for different engineering branches. I think the job scope after MS is very high. Graduate in MS have more scope. So I think there is no difficulty to getting a job Masters Degree in UK. There is now a points system in place in the UK under which a foreigner must "qualify" before s/he can be hired in the UK. In some industries, companies must obtain license to be able to hire foreigners.
