Does this store have a website? IF so what is it?

What is the best way to store and share files for website design?

  • For example, I am working on team that is conducting a website redesign and continually passing around photoshop/illustrator files.  Is there a system we can use to store and keep track of the canonical set of designs we want to use?  Also, we want to store all the different graphical elements that comprise these designs, and a set of standards for CSS effects and the like to ensure consistency.  What applications or systems do people use for this type of content management & file sharing?

I know Dropbox is popular for project collaboration. I think you should go with it and come back if it does not work out for you. You should be able to figure it out after you view the video on their homepage: http://db.tt/Utd5Hhd

The most important thing, to my mind, is to ensure that they are under version control. At the moment I prefer Git, but there are many others: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_revision_control_software Dropbox does support versioning, but only, afaik, per file, which is not ideal for this type of work. What you really should strive for is a project management tool, http://trac.edgewall.org/ is opensource and quite capable, http://assembla.com is feature rich yet a pleasure to use. These will get you things like intergroup communication, wiki, code repo, filesharing and issue tracking.   ...

Look into http://box.net. It's more expensive than Dropbox and the free version does not offer syncing your local files (you have to manually upload your stuff), but it has way more features for your client to view, comment and approve your designs. Dropbox is great, but there is no way to comment on a file/design.

Version control with non-text documents like photoshop can be tricky if multiple people are editing the same file at the same time. Say Person A and Person B check out Foo.psd, and Person A makes changes and checks in Foo.psd. How does Person B know how Foo.psd has been changed short of checking it again renaming it and comparing it in photoshop with their changes? Its easier with code because its all text and tools will show you exactly what has changed.

Another high-quality solution for your needs is, perhaps, http://goo.gl/0lDLxi. It allows you to sync files between all platforms and mobile devices and also share access to synced files and folders with your team members. Moreover, it's possible to access all elements and designs remotely in the web account. The amount of available cloud storage is 1TB, hence you won't need to track, if there's enough space left.

Dropbox is unbelievably useful for this, especially since you can use it on several platforms and it will sync between them. I keep all my web projects on Dropbox, edit them on my PC and then, if I'm out w/ my Android phone, I can make quick edits to a page through Dropbox (with or without the help of a bluetooth keyboard) and FTP them to the web server.

I think you can try MultCloud.@https://www.multcloud.com  which can help you store FTP/SFTP. And its Share function is powerful, read this:http://www.wikihow.com/Share-File-With-MultCloud%EF%BC%9F

Layer Vault is like the github for PSD files. And if you want to collaborate with the front end code, Github is great. Otherwise there is good ole Dropbox.
