How To Watch English Premier League On Ipad For Free?

Is there a movie I can watch to understand English premier league football?

  • I didn't know anything about the English Premier League football teams before moving to London.  Now I've been here almost a year, and I still know pretty much nothing about the subject other than the fact that everyone in the world (minus the US) knows about English Premier League football except me.  When I went to Indonesia, Singapore, and Panama last year, everybody asked me about it. Is there some sort of documentary or something that I can watch to understand what it is, what's so interesting about each team, and how it came to be so well-known outside of England?

  • Answer:

The answer is "no". The EPL has to be lived, to be understood.

I'm an avid Norwich fan and have been a season ticket holder since I was about 10 years old. I personally think that you'll struggle to pick it up by watching a movie (as it will likely be fictionalised and/or not detailed enough). As such as an alternative I would suggest watching live games and highlights on TV & listen to the post-match analysis. It may be confusing it first, but it will come it time. If you don't understand why something has happened then Wikipedia is your friend! I personally think Sky Sports has the best coverage & analysis (live matches, Soccer Saturday, Goals on Sunday), while the BBC has the flagship highlights programme in Match of the Day (though the pundits are a bit poor!). ITV and Channel 5 also show European football that will involved Premier League sides, but they don't have the rights to Premier League matches. Note that you don't really need to know the history of the game - start off by learning who the top teams/players are now (which the TV shows will give you) and the rest will come with experience.

Most films on the Premier League aren't very good, a lot of the films listed above (Green St and Football Factory) are about football hooliganism, something that has nothing to do with football. However the Damned United will teach you about one of the most famous British football managers and Fever Pitch is an excellent film about the devotion and love/hate relationship many fans put themselves through supporting a club. I would say the best thing to learn about the current Premier League would be to play Football Manager (PC football managing game). It has the most in depth statistics about football players from all leagues in the world. It will also teach you about transfers, tactics, back room staff and why a football teams need such large squads. A game like FIFA also is an entertaining game that you can learn a lot about premier league players and the most commonly used formations of each club. Obviously these games become dated within the year but the latest versions always give an accurate account of each team. The best way to learn about the Premier League is to watch it. Watch Match Of The Day and Sky Sports coverage. And go to the games, if you live in London you are spoilt for choice for teams, so pick one and start watching.

Please watch a movie called "Will". Its about a 11 year old kid's journey across Europe to the 2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul. Being a Liverpool fan myself, this movie gave me tears and goosebumps.

The Class of 92. It isn't a feature film, it's a documentary. Also completely focused on Manchester United. But I still think it's a must watch for any football fan.

Pick a team and start following them. As you gradually start following them you will want to know their history etc. And do watch the games on sky sports and also their football analysis by Gary Neville to learn more about football in general.

Damned United Football Factory Green Street Hooligans Goal! Thats more like a hollywood flick with many miracles, though you can get a feel of how passionate people are about their clubs. But I feel movie will do you no good in how the game is played and EPL in general. Just follow a team for an year and watch the league, FA Cup Carling Cup. You will get much more details just following the game and some pre/post game shows will help you with some history and insight into the game if you are new.

I saw this the other day on Netflix: http://espn.go.com/30for30/film?page=hillsborough "Hillsborough" is a comprehensive account of the Hillsborough Stadium disaster, a tragedy that occurred during an FA Cup semifinal soccer match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England. The film focuses on the events that unfolded before, during and after the horrifying afternoon that led to the deaths of 96 people as well as the injuries to several hundred more and the traumatization of countless lives.

"Goal!"  !?  Please... Watch Football Factory, if anything, but I disbelieve a movie will make you understand the league. You've got to follow it to have an insightful opinion about football in general.
