How to find status updates on new Facebook?

I can see that Google's indexing Facebook pages; but are they indexing status updates?

  • My experience is that even when updates are open to "everyone", in fact even FB searches only find your friends' updates. Google searches seem to return no status updates right now. This is a follow-up question to .

According to Facebook's help pages, anything that you share with the privacy set to "Public" may turn up on search engines such as Google. There is a Facebook setting to stop Search Engines linking to your profile, but they say they cannot stop Search Engines indexing any content you share that is set to "Public".Full entry from Facebook's help page: https://www.facebook.com/help/124518907626945If you don’t want search engines to link to your profile, you can adjust your Privacy Settings. To adjust your settings: Click  at the top right of any Facebook page and choose Settings Click Privacy from the left column Under the Who can look me up? section, click Do you want other search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile? Make your selection using the check box Note: Information from your profile and some things you share can still appear in search engine results even if you select No. Public information may still appear in search results. This includes stuff you share with the audience set to Public, posts and comments on Pages and Public groups and posts in the Community Forum section of the Help Center.https://www.facebook.com/help/186212491428940When people post to an open forum on Facebook (ex: on Pages, in public groups or in the Community Forum section of the Help Center) the posts may also appear in search results from search engines like Yahoo and Google.Facebook doesn't have control over content that's already been indexed and cached by search engines. If you want to remove a piece of content that you've shared publicly from an internet search engine, you can: Delete the original post. When you do this, the content may still show up in search engines, but the link to that content will be invalid. Contact the specific search engine’s support team.
