I'm working and spending up to 12 hours in the office and traveling. I wish to clear the UPSC exam next year (August, 2015). Has anyone cleared this exam with such working hours and what was your daily schedule or how many hours did you spend on studying every day?

I have already started preparing a few months back.

Answer:
12 hours you spend working. Let's assume you take up 8 hours for sleeping , eating, and other routine stuff. Now you are left with 4 hours. In that you have to read newspaper and basic books n ncerts.... Lets assume you have a smart phone n you can read newspaper while travelling and in office ( I recommend neither as you should make notes from newspaper too) you are left with 4 hours to study.... This can be enough for the initial part of preparation but gradually you would have to up the ante! I suggest start your preparations! Once you get hold of it , quit your job.! Also read 's blog on http://insightsonindia.com . Read how he planned his study! All the best!

I am currently working in an MNC, 9 hours a day.. at the same time, I am preparing for the UPSC exam... I come from office at 6:30 PM, and after dinner and other things, I start studying at 9PM, from 9 to 1, I study, that is 4 hours and sleeps at 1 AM and wake up at 6:45 AM, go to office at 8 AM. In the office, whenever I am free, I read newspaper, editorials and articles on web... but there is one difference, I am not writing exam next year, maybe, I will write in 2016.
