Are everyday threats of eviction and bans by homeless shelters, acceptable rules of law for helping homeless people with structure and support? Is it mental healthy? Why help less or help more?

Legally, poorly, sociopolitically and psychologically asked profoundly as we can, because we have been threatened with eviction and bans for: Being 5 minutes late to go home. Not showering in freezing water in a foul stall that smells disgusting. Having a laptop. (Smartphones are allowed.) Not "agreeing" to rules about structure, if I want a bed. Arbitrary counselor/staff/stranger's judgement of your interests and intent, with no long-term individualized assessment or background information asked or given. Much more. Try to think clearly after running through a maze. We must behave on time, eat on time, (hide) our (laptop) bags out of view without safety, and other codes I will add as I have enough heart and mind to remember. That said, I am told by one shelter I do not push their rules. By another, I am aggressively actively threatened, depending on staffing, so I know it may change based on people and policy somewhat. After asking, one staff said their treatment is backed up by their internal (external gov't too?) rules and checks. Some shelters are better, some shelters are worse, but if we tell what still happens in real life, we can understand better what to do, sheltering people suffering and struggling for life.

Answer:
Homeless people come in all flavours, and overworked staff sometimes make snap decisions. This is distressing to the person concerned as s/he feels dehumanised and voiceless. A lot of disorder in hostels is caused by this. Of course, a lot more is caused by alcohol.
