How would I create my own brand name?

Why do big brand name companies let other stores/ companies use their product to create the new generic versions of those products? That can confuse the consumers and it's not good for the brand... Please comment below

  The most common reason is patent expiration. When the originator of the product can no longer prevent competition from manufacturing the same exact product, they will often times work to execute a licensing deal through which the branded product is now manufactured and sold under the generic name. The pitfall is lower margins, but if the original brand is strong enough and premium, then it usually can work out in their favor. Starbucks does this with their coffee beans (commodities are well served to do so). They source and roast the beans, then sell them through the Kirkland brand at Costco for far cheaper than the Starbucks branded beans sold at grocery stores.
