Which iOS application is best to record live music where the performers are not close to the device?

I'm thinking particularly recording a crowd singing at a sports event. I guess the iPhone is optimised for voice calls but I wonder whether applications can override this to able to record the crowd better. Soundcloud seems to work pretty well but I wondered if there was anything better.
