How does Terj Sorgjerd get time-lapse photography that includes stars and the sun setting? (see link)
-
So I assume this is done on one camera, all at once, and isn't 2 photographs layered together? How is this done where he gets the exposure with the sun pointed at the camera and the milky way? I'm hoping for answers on exposure and shutter settings, camera model/ etc.

Answer:
In the scenes where you see stars and a bright object in the sky, what you are seeing is not the sun... but the moon! The moon is a sunlit object and so when you exposure for the stars (relatively dim object) the moon is very very bright in comparison. If the camera aperture is set to something low like F16, than bright objects will get a star-pattern lens flare due to the iris blades. If you are asking how he managed to do a timelapse where it transitions from the setting sun to a dark starry night, that is called bulb ramping. However, I think it's the first thing I said.

It's a time lapse, not a long exposure. He is just shooting multiple pictures using an intervalometer and then merging them into a video. the one in which you seen the sun setting is actually moon setting along with the stars (you can see that the surrounding is dark).. and comparatively the moon _is_ overexposed (to the extent that you thought it was the sun).

Terj also puts his camera on a track to get the slow viewpoint changes through the forest for example. beautiful work
