What is the best comparison site for HD TVs that is not solely about pricing?

I don't know what you mean by "scientific information", but comparing HDTVs against each other isn't really a scientific process. While we do control for lighting level, content selection, calibration etc. while testing a lineup of HDTVs, when performing image quality tests, we can't rely on the specs to tell us which TV is better and which is worse. The vast majority of HDTV specs either don't mean anything at all (Contrast ratio and response time, for example, are usually misreported by manufacturers and aren't a reliable basis of comparison) or can't really be used to compare two different TVs (refresh rates above 120hz don't always make a TV look better, and the effect is often rather subjective). I manage HDTVs for PCWorld, and I like to think we do a darn good job. :) That said, CNet and Sound and Vision are solid reviews sources, as is Consumer Reports, though I don't know why you're ruling them out.

http://thewirecutter.com is by far the most reliable site I've found for electronics and consumer product reviews in general. The authors do experimental usability testing for every product they review, and they are usually spot on.
