You have to be in your home. The router you're connected to has to be associated with your cable company account. This prevents you from doing what I wanted which was use HBOGO when I was on the road, and out of the country.

It is supported.You have to be a DirectTV and HBO subscriber, and register. It is not clear how many iPads can link to one DirecTv/HBO account.
