What are working techniques to be able to fall asleep fast and in any condition?
-
It usually takes me a lot of time to fall asleep even when I tired. I also need a pretty dark room, silence and to be in an horizontal state. I would love to be able to take quick naps no matter where and when. Why can't I? What to do?

Answer:
When people is learning to meditate, one of the most difficult problems to overcome is ironically, not falling asleep, that's because in order to attain concentration the previous step is to be fully relaxed and most of meditation books teach how to relax extraordinarily well. I used have troubles to sleep and after learning to meditate I can sleep easily at anytime and anywhere I want with just "pretending" that I'll meditate. So, my advice is, If you want (or you need) develop that skill, use the same technique but with different purpose, that is, to learn the basics and then just "attempt" meditate. Actually you don't need to learn to meditate (just plain because that is not you goal), by merely trying, you will begin to experience the "problem" of falling asleep easily and paradoxically, which for a meditator is a problem for you will be a solution because your purpose was never to learn to meditate but to learn to falling asleep easily, anytime and anywhere. Sorry for my bad English. Good luck and sweet dreams :)

I'm not sure I am the best person to answer this question, because most of the time I sleep like a rock in in the first three minutes of going to bed.If I really need too I can sleep while standing. No kidding. I also can sleep with a lot of noise, light and people jumping in my bed.Thinking throughly I may be qualified... There were this rare occasions when I couldn't sleep, so I had a "sniff" of what it is like not being able to sleep, even when tired.Thinking that are people going through that all nights... it is pretty awfull... you feel tired all day, your muscles feel heavy ,you can't think clearly and any little task seems major, at least that's how lack of sleep is to me after the first hours of "speed" after being forcefully awake. ( think going out at night, or partying: I don't enjoy alchool, so I can say that all the after-affects are from lack of sleep and tiredness). Anyway, lack of sleep can really worn out a person...my father has a lot of trouble falling asleep, so I know how it is.Being awake at the house when you are tired and everyone is sleeping it's the worst...he entretained himself eating. Not good.He says he remembers when he was a kid he hadn't the slightest trouble in falling asleep.I believe that what makes most people not being able to sleep is worry, or constant wonder, inability to relax.Normally, when we are going to bed is when we have no one interrupting us, silence to think about life. The best way to fall asleep it's keeping and active lifestyle, and acting like a kid:live in the moment. When deciding you're going to sleep , leave your mind blank, think that you feel like sleeping.Concentrate on it."I want to sleep, I'm tired" Forget your problems, wipe it out:think sleeping now it's more important that whatever problems you might have, think "Sleep sleep sleep"...and nothing more. And then you sleep. It works for me, when I, sometimes, wonder too much about life.

Slow your breath to 5 breaths a minute - fairly easy for most (or 6). Do this for 5 minutes. Equals 25 to 3o deeper than usual breaths which triggers an array of biochemical changes associated with neurotransmitter profile. Added important note - focus the thought flow on favored images of nature. You need to avoid blue light (eg. mobile devices/laptops/bright lights) at least an hour before going to bed. These lights block melatonin production, the hormone that helps you sleep. You should put your phone out of sight and turn your main lights off and just sit with a nice lamp on instead.
