Do you make to-do lists?

There are many ToDo lists apps. How can we make our new one disruptive? What is still missing?

  • if you are using one or have used one, what would you love? if you have looked for one but are still using pen and paper, what are you looking for that you have not found?

  • Answer:

Must-have: smart lists and saved searches, sync with mobile (web interface or app), print daily agenda, and at least a basic web interface if you're making a desktop client. The biggest thing that keeps me heading back to paper is that electronic apps can be very hard to access if you use multiple OS's, don't have regular internet access, don't have an app phone, etc. Make it simple and accessible on as many platforms as possible.

Todo apps should be Simple and clean. Easy to add tasks Sort your tasks based on different criteria such as priority, title, task actions, etc Execute tasks like call, sms, email, etc on tapping an icon, Input tasks using Speech to text Read out your tasks aloud so that you dont have to scroll through the monster list of tasks. Syncs your tasks with iCloud.. Works offline without any internet connection. One of the app that satisfies all this criteria is Buddy Bird ToDo. http://bit.ly/10dQSZG..There are other simple todo apps like Wunderlist, Astrid (now acquired by yahoo) which you can look into.  But the reason why people jump to a pen and paper is the ease of inputting a task. If this could be solved and made easier, then the new todo app would be very useful to all.

One takeaway being, "Some cleverly designed to-do list apps simply get rid of the  completed tasks for that reason, leaving the user with less clutter  and a happy sense of a clean plate. But ultimately, tasks are a  feature, not an app."

1  Cross platform versions including particularly Windows and BlackBerry 2  Must work in absence of internet connection 3  Able to categorise tasks on several dimensions of the user's choosing. 4  Able to pick out tasks to be done now/today/tomorrow/this week from larger list 5  Option, but not obligation, to allocate tasks to days. 6  Able to present entire db as a table for simple editting, and to show portions of db in same format, segmented by task categories. 7  No development effort squandered in provision of distracting animations or make appearance like anything paper based 8  Rich options for printing 9  Retain/display edit history of tasks: when entered, and when and what changes made to description, categorisation, scheduling.

I am a freak and I tried a couple of tools and keep trying the news ones which keep getting launched. RTM is way too confusing  - too much happening on the screen. toodledo - I just didn't like the way it looked. dull boring UI. Currently I am in love with http://www.teuxdeux.com - Clean Look - Simple to use - Takes your unfinished todo list to the next day. What's missing: The Blackberry App.

My bias is towards SkedPal - a tool that didn’t exist when this question was asked. The reason is simple - it’s the only task manager that actually reschedules your calendar, producing an optimal schedule. In other words, with a click of a button, you can reorder the flexible tasks (not the appointments) in your Google or Outlook Calendar, saving you the time and effort required to keep your calendar current at all times. How is this done? It uses some patented concepts, plus a combination of Artificial Intelligence and cloud technology. The convergence of these capabilities allows it to do what no other task manager can do.However, it’s not for everyone. Experience shows that the app is really for that group of people who are either managing a lot of tasks, or aspiring to do so. See the diagram below. For most people, it’s unsuitable - they don’t handle enough time demands. However, for those who aspire to super-hero levels of productivity (defined by time demand throughput), there is no choice. They must migrate their skills upward to cope with their ambitions. So while there is no one-size-fits-all solution, the tools and techniques required at the highest level have recently become clear with the advent of new technologyI hope this helps,Francis

http://www.todoed.co, I think its pretty boss. My team and I built it to adapt to the new age work culture that is mainly inside chats. We have a team of around 20+ and use trello for project management but Todoed fits a totally different amd faster need. Most of all it doesnt get in the way.

Ability to add recurring tasks, location based tasks that are sensitive enough to only trigger a reminder in the location, not near the location. Location based tasks that do not drain the battery. Integration across mobile/tablet/PC. Ability to save/archive lists. Integration with Evernote.
