How to find users by email ID?

If a third party app has a Facebook user ID, can it use this ID to find the email associated with that Facebook user ID?

  • The Facebook member here is not a user of that third party app. Example: if you have someone's email, then Rapleaf API can tell you the associated social network IDs. My question here is the other way round - if you have the Facebook ID, can you find the associated email?

  • Answer:

    If you log in with Facebook Connect and the app Oauth requests your email, then yes they can get your email.

Not directly. And yes you are right the reverse (get id from email) can be done. Infact the reverse can be used to guess email ids randomly as explained in. http://t.wits.sg/2010/08/14/attack-of-the-facebook-harvesters/ If the user is using it though and provided the permissions (here you need the extended permission - email  http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/permissions) then the third party app can possibly see it.
