What is web hosting?

Web Hosting: What experiences has anyone had using either myhosting.com or Network Solutions as dependable hosting servicers?

  • We have been using XO as web and email hosting servicer since 1997. Recent radical pricing increase plus a failure to update MySQL from v4 to v5 has us now looking for an alternate hosting service. We need to have MySQL v5, latest version of PHP, Javascript, POP email plus MS Exchange 2010 with BlackBerry BES service, latest version of Wordpress, SSL and Apache web server. This combination of requirements apparently severely limits the available hosting options but myhosting and network solutions both have a complete package that appears to meet those requirements so we are wondering if there is any user experience and consensus as to which might be the better choice or is there is another choice we have not yet found. Servicer must have own data center, not a reseller of someone else's services and ideally they should be on the internet backbone which XO is.
