Why does North Korea not show up on Google Maps?
-
-
Answer:
Google buys information from commercial mapping companies to place on its maps. You will often see several copyright notices at the bottom of the page that signify this. The lack of information about North Korea probably means that none of the commercial mapping of GIS companies have any detailed information about the country. It could also be a commercial decision by Google: why pay for data if we have no users there?
