  There's no winning on this. You can please some people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. If cologne is not used, Americans claim Indian men smell and bring up all kinds of rationalizations - because of spicy food, etc. And then resort to "just use some cologne, amirite?". If cologne is used, you get questions like this that, again, are broad generalizations about the whole population, stating again that Indians have problems with smell. Sigh. Definitely no winning on this issue. If it were an American who were stinking of cologne, it would just be "oh, THAT (particular) guy" has no sense of smell. But in the case of Indians, it has to be a broad sweeping generalization. SMH. And then it's masked as a non-racist "scientific" question by pretending as if the asker is curious about a genetic linkage. I'm sure the intent wasn't racist but you gotta be sensitive to how it comes across! General rule of thumb: If you're going to paint an entire population with a single brushstroke, stop, rethink, then think once more, and then type. It's not easy to revert damage once it's done.
