Here are my recommendations: 1) Depends on the topic. 2) Digital - Digital Design - Morris Mano 3) Computer Architecture - Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach, by Hennessey and Patterson. 4) Data Structures - Introduction to Algorithms, by Thomas Cormen, Charles Leiserson, Ronald Rivest and Clifford Stein 5) Algorithms - Same as above (in fact, when in doubt, check above) 6) ToC - Introduction to Automata Theory, Languages and Computation, by John Hopcroft, Rajeev Motwani and J.D. Ullman 7) Compiler Design - Any book will do 8) OS - Operating System Concepts, by Silberschatz, Galvin and Gagne, also Modern Operating Systems, by Andrew Tanenbaum 9) DB - Database Systems, by Elmasri and Nawathe 10) Computer Networks - Computer Networks, by Forouzan
