Is it really bad for your eyes to sit "too" close to the TV?
-
If so, are some TV types worse than others?
-
Answer:
Sitting too close to the TV (Closer than 7-8') is like looking at your computer screen all day. Optical infinity is defined as anything beyond 6 feet. Once objects become closer than 6 feet your eyes have to use their muscles to focus on the object clearly. The closer the object is, the more the muscles have to work. So anything you do for long periods of time that is closer than 6 feet can cause eye strain, and is not good for your eyes without the necessary breaks. I always recommend to parents to keep their kids at least 8 feet away from the TV for this reason alone. This answer is not a substitute for professional medical advic...
