What is the job market like for nurses in the Bay Area?

I'm not a nurse, but generally speaking, due to mandated nurse-patient ratios in California, the job market for nurses is stronger than it is in some other areas. I'm more familiar with Public Health Nursing, and that job market has been substantially impacted by state and local government budget crises, hiring freezes, and layoffs.
