Get your website not on Google?

How do you get google to list your personal website (that doesn't contain your Internet name) among the results of a search for your Internet name?

  • For example, you can google mathwonk and get mathwonk's university website on the top page of google. But mathwonk's website doesn't even contain the phrase "mathwonk" anywhere in its source code

  • Answer:

In your example Mathwonk does not have to phrase in the url or source code to rank.  Google has become much more sophisticated with its latest algorithms that they know look at many items.  THe first being your url with key words.  Now this does not mean if you do not have the keywords in the URL that you still cannot rank at the top you can.  THe best way is to add content with the keywords you are looking to rank for.  Ideally you want 1%-2.5% keyword saturation in your content.    So in your example Mathwonk write articles or content on Mathwonk within your website.  Add a min of 3-5 pages per month and as Google indexes these new pages your ranking should go up.   Additionally, if you have not done this yet add Google Analytic to your site, its free.   And these tools will help you understand what and where you are ranking for.
