He has started preparing for this exam before 2 to 3 years itself..Three months seems to be a very small time for this exam, since the topics to be covered is vast. A civil service aspirant must be able to answer questions from any topic...Better get guidance from those who have cracked civil service exam..All the best for your career.

Well, First go through the syllabus, which mostly is around the Secondary School level. So, take the NCERT books from 8-10 and go through them atleast read them casually for 2 times, Try to do the old question papers and re read the questions and answers. With enough luck and talent you may qualify the prelims, but the mains is a real beast and needs a completely different strategy also since you asked the question for preparing in 3 months give your best to get the taste of the UPSC exam. Once you give a fair attempt with adequate preparation, you will get to know "what a dumb question i asked 3 months ago"...
