What should I do to study in Oxford university or cambridge university?

What grades should I get at GCSE and A-levels and what subjects should I choose at A-levels to get into Oxford or Cambridge University to study computer science?

  • Answer:

A level choices: Maths is essential; and also take Further Maths (unless your school doesn't offer it). For your third A level then take whatever you think you'll enjoy. Four A levels is not necessary. A very common choice would be Physics, with Computing being relatively popular (but by no means essential). A level grades: you need to get A*A*A (Cambridge or Oxford Maths+CS) or A*AA (Oxford CS or CS+Philosophy, although this might increase by the time you apply) GCSE grades: there's no minimum, although students tend to have mostly A/A* grades. Poor performance in unrelated subjects is not a barrier to entry.

Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing (if your school offers it). Source: my friend is a Comp Sci here at Cambridge. Programming experience would help too.
