What are some good Colleges in Bangalore?

What is the comparison of manipal university with Bangalore colleges like RV college or M S Ramaiah ?

  • Manipal fees is much higher Than Bangalore colleges , is it worth it ?

  • Answer:

Well,as you must know Manipal admits a huge number of students every year,it should be around 2200 this year I think, and that is definitely a big drawback. As a result, the students of the 'lower' branches like biotech, printing, biomedical, instrumentation & control, etc are somewhat neglected in terms of placements. So if one is not interested for further studies in these fields then taking admission in them becomes a bit of a gamble as there are limited number of compaies making these branches elligible and in most cases students have to settle for an IT job in TCS,Wipro etc. Now if you talk about the top branches like mech,CS,e&c and e&e, I believe, from my experience, that manipal is quite a distance ahead of even the best Bangalore colleges. The reason being that you have top core companies offering proper engineering profiles to students in all these branches mentioned. Bangalore colleges, due to their location, have it easy in the IT placements but ,from what I have heard, struggle quite a bit for getting core companies for other branches. Manipal, besides having excellent IT placements(microsoft, amazon, flipkart,Cisco, citrex, juniper, etc etc) have equally good placements for other branches as well. To name a few,we have companies like Samsung, erickson, hero,Mahindra,Honda,Tata motors, voltas,l&t,freescale, philips, schneider electric,GE healthcare, ashok leyland, reliance industries, vedanta, oracle, etc etc etc each and every year.Yes it is not a cakewalk for sure, due to the big batch size. But it isn't in any damn college in the country however big or small they are. The point is,how many colleges even give you an opportunity to be a part of such companies? And everyone with over a CGPA of 6.5-7 has a shot at all the big companies,so ultimately it all depends upon you to learn your stuff decently enough.  As a college, I believe Manipal offers far more options for students to get themselves involved in different activities, both academic and non academic. We have a plethora of technical and cultural clubs. All kinds of sports are played here and you wont find an empty ground even during exams. We send students for exchange programs to all the continents of this planet. There is not much more you can ask of a college honestly, but you have to be good enough to avail all that the college offers.  And yes, life in Manipal is worth dying for,and this is no exxageration. No matter what anyone says about Bangalore life, you just have to visit Manipal once to see why we guys gush over it so much. I have been to the Bangalore colleges and have friends who have studied in Rv,pesit and BIT. And my honest opinion is that Manipal is better than RV by a fair margin, but on the condition that the student is sensible enough to study a bit and not smoke pot all the time for all 4 years.

Yes, it is a bit easier to get admission in Manipal as compared to some Bangalore Colleges like RVCE, obviously because of the higher intake. I personally think this is an added advantage as there are students from various parts of the country and abroad. One gets to learn about different cultures which helps to broaden the mindset and tolerance towards others. Moreover, Manipal offers a very good platform if you want to work on interdisciplinary projects which involve knowledge and resources from various fields such as medical, communication, management etc. as there are a number of courses offered by the university supported by effective links between various colleges.

I wrote my engineering entrances in the year 2010. I scored a 202 in manipal entrance and was offered a scholarship there, which I then quit to join RVCE through COMEDK. Do I regret this decision? No ways. There are pros and cons for everything. The exposure I got by just living in Bangalore was immense. I did a host of activities ranging from renewable energy projects to editing newsletter. Placement wise and opportunity I think both are more or less equal. I feel bangalore colleges have a little more edge in these terms as most tech companies are bangalore based. Having said that, it depends on you as to how you utilise your chances. Be it manipal or a bangalore college. Manipal is much bigger in terms of intake whereas RV and Ramaiah have fewer seats, thus making it tougher to get into these colleges (Unless you opt for management quota). One last point I'd like to highlight is that RVCE is a little demanding in terms of its academic schedule. But then, I feel that has prepared me to take on industry challenges. I hope this helps you. If you're good, I think success is bound to come your way. :) Cheers!

Thanks for the A2A! Manipal's college life (read college Infrastructure/mix of people) is way better than RV or Ramaiah. So, by those standards, every penny that you pay in Manipal is worth it!!   Now, sort out your priorities about what you want, and decide for youself....Isn't that easy ?
