How Do Black Women Wear Makeup?

Should men be encouraged to wear makeup in the same way women are?

  • Recently, John Green posted this vlog: In it he talks about how much he actually enjoys wearing makeup. Do you think if we encouraged more men to try wearing makeup, there'd be less emphasis on women and their need to wear make up? Would it make it easier for both sexes to just enjoy dressing up? Or does it just confuse and complicate the whole matter? Some edits: I'm not saying anyone HAS to wear makeup, but let's acknowledge for a second that there might be people of both genders who enjoy it. And why not? It can be fun for some. So my question is aimed at the idea that if both men and women were considered 'legitimate' users of makeup, there might be less of a problem for either men or women or any other gender label to take up or discard the use of makeup as they saw fit. If we removed the idea of makeup as a female-centric purchase, would this help even things out?

  • Answer:

Screw that. I have enough trouble getting out of the house in the mornings. Let's just encourage women to feel free to abstain if they want to.

In history it was normal for men to wear make up , dresses and have long hair .It only became strange cause of the bible and other horrid religious booksMy response is yes, Gender roles are something incredibly stupid with no founded science to believe them . Many scientist and even APA proved with facts , experiments and years of studies there’s no difference between man and woman in term of psychology

I do enjoy wearing make up. But my make up kit doesn't consist of foundations and mascara, but rather these:- Shaving Foam Razor Cartridges for Razor After Shave lotion Moisturizer Eye Moisturizer(drops) Expired sunscreen lotion (Expired ?) wet wipes and a Tissue pack. Toilet soap Small paste tube Deo Random lip balm Face wash I also like to wear accessories like Jacket/ sweater/ hoodie and my watch and my favorite accessory, my earphones.  The question is about enjoyment. If you receive it, don't stop it for someone. Does the above count as make up? According to me it should.

yes/no. men should be no more encouraged or discouraged from makeup than women. but i don't think women should generally be heavily encouraged to wear it either. personally, my opinion on makeup is that is only really matters if you want to wear it, or if it fixes some issue that is actually relevant. (i've heard some methods of recordings messing with appearance, making people look far worse, and that makeup can prevent this.) otherwise, it should be optional, unless your job is somehow to look good. sure, if you've got some horrible scar that has looked like a new injury for the last ten years and you're sick of people asking about what happened to you and do you need help, you can cover it up with makeup, but neither gender should be required to do so. men should be encouraged to not feel ashamed of using it, like it's somehow wrong because they're male, but not told they have to or anything. does that make sense?

I think that men are supposed to wear makeup only in special occasions, like Theater, Television and in order to perform some acts or roles that will be boosted with the use of makeup. There are some examples in history than men actually wore makeup like ancient Egypt or Emperors in Rome but I personally don't like something like that.

Celebrities do it all the time. Bollywood has  male actors with cherry pink lips in the song and dance routines , and it does seem weird. Imagine men wearing kohl and mascara. I would definitely not want my man wearing lip color and compact. Guess other girls out there will also agree with me.

Man, I can just imagine this in the gym locker room in the mornings before work ... Hairy, muscled men swearing and elbowing one another out of the way for space in front of the mirrors to put on mascara, lipstick and blush. Fun!

Does Growing moustaches counts?  I think for men who is living in normal conditions, being chaste and keeping away from bad habits is a glamour. Living chaste aids in masculinity and glow over face. A confidence in eyes. A healthy mind . This the true make up a man should wear. And smile even in odds.

The way our society works, I believe there is leeway for everything. So the old way (as I understand it) with girls dolling up and guys paying most of the bills can still work, but it could be also be the opposite or anything in between. Guys wearing makeup is something that hasn't really been addressed. Good question and kudos to any guy that wears makeup!

Nobody should be 'encouraged' to dress up or wear makeup, but there shouldn't be any 'men shouldn't wear makeup' or 'women have to wear makeup to look pretty' attitudes around. I don't see the problem with using makeup or any sort of products like that, but I see problems in the way society treats men and women both as far as makeup-wearing goes.
