    Now that the elections are over. The answer is a big YES. While it is not clear if everyone understood what 2G auction is or what impact did the scam actually make, the number one lakh seventy six thousand crore did make every Indian awestruck. This huge amount overshadowed the populist schemes and other infrastructural developments implemented by DMK government. It would be impossible for AIADMK to get a landslide victory but for the 2G. On pan-India, no national leader has been booked so far in the name of 2G. But it could affect the overall prospect of UPA. They do have other corruption charges like CWG, Adarsh and so on. Its quite tough for UPA to cover-up 2G.

Somehow I doubt there will be any effect of the scam at least on the TN elections. Reason being everyone knows Karunanidhi regarding how he has always wanted his family members to be ministers. So this must not come as a huge shock, especially now that Raja is out of the ministry. As far as National politics is concerned, there are two things. One, the elections are not soon, and public memory is not too great. Secondly, Congress is also trying to do some cleaning up on its own, removing the tainted ministers. A third thing to be seen is who is the option. I do not think that BJP/NDA in their present state are strong enough to be an option. So while there will be negatives for Congress at the national stage, it is difficult to assess at the moment to what extent it will harm them.
