What are good jobs to apply for?

What jobs can a good Physics major apply for with little study?

  • Let us assume that we are talking about a senior who is pretty good at physics and the applied math needed for the major. Are there any industry jobs he can apply to (besides consulting!) that do not require additional knowledge? N.B. "Little Study" does not mean he would want to waltz into a job...but he would not want to go learn an entirely different field (e.g. C.S.) just to get the job

  • Answer:

I'm a physicist (http://m.sc eng phys) working in finance... more precisely quantitative trading. I keep meeting physics people in this field all the time. It is funny how you can pick up what people take four years to learn in business school on the subject in a couple of months from wikipedia while working ;) Other than that guys I've studied with are all over different industries. So can't say anything specific, except perhaps handling other peoples money is where it is easiest to make some for yourself if that is your motivator. But to summarize, sky is the limit. If you have a minor in something applied and or know how to program and good overall grades then that helps a lot.
