How do I set up a self-hosted Wordpress blog on a subdomain of a main domain which is pointed to a Blogger-hosted blog?

Some details for this specific case, using examples: The main 'domain.com' is set to point to a blog hosted on Blogger, using their custom domain name settings I have hosting for http://domain.com at IP address 98.76.0.5 with my registrar I have created an A record for 'blog' in the DNS settings for http://domain.com that points to 98.76.0.5 I have created a folder called 'blog' in the 'public_html' folder of the hosting space The wordpress install files have been uploaded into the 'blog' folder Prior to that, the wp-config.php was edited with the details of the MySQL database I made in my hosting control panel (90% sure this is OK) When attempting to access http://blog.domain.com/wp-admin/install.php in my browser I get a 404 error (http://domain.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php gives me a Blogger 404 error). If I navigate to 'blog.domain.com' it displays the contents of the index.html file that my registrars put by default into the 'public_html' folder of the hosting space. Clearly this isn't being done right...

Subdomains are setup on your host and are related to your domain. So when you point your domain away from your host, you're loosing the chance to use the hosting for that domain at all - including subdomains. Honestly, what I would do is contact your host and they may have a work-around depending on how their system is setup.
