Can i start a non-profit without a board of directors?

You are a successful Entrepreneur / C-level exec with a few success stories under your belt. Would you accept an invitation to join the board of directors of a new start-up? If Yes; what would be your motivation? Money/fame/challenge/passion?

  • Answer:

-Opportunity to learn something new from new people -Opportunity to share my experiences & lessons -A new Challenge -Passion for the product (The ordering of the list here is arbitrary, not intentional)

Other answers

No, although I might accept occasionally consulting for the new start up. The reason is that I consider the Board of Directors to be a fundamentally poor solution to the problem of managing an enterprise, just as I believe that the separation of ownership and management in modern business is a fundamental flaw.
