How do I indicate on my resume and LinkedIn account that I will be moving to a new area in a couple months, and only want interviews in that area?
-
I went to college in northern Missouri, but I moved to Oklahoma for a few months, looking for work. Now, I want to move back to the northern Missouri/Omaha/Des Moines midwest area. I don't want recruiters to contact me for Oklahoma jobs anymore. However, my resume has an Oklahoma address, and my Linkedin says I live in Oklahoma. I want to move in 1-2 months. How do I indicate this on Linkedin and my resume? Should I just change my location on Linkedin to the general area I will be? What about the resume?

Answer:
For linkedin, you can change your location to that area or you can write in the summary area at the top of your profile that's what you're interested in and intending to do. As for your resume, you'll want to use current contact information. Just send it out to jobs in the area you want to live. You can include a cover letter and state that you are intending to move to that area soon. The purpose of the cover letter is to relay information that's not easily stated on a resume. This move would be one of those things.
