How to get local branch up-to-date with remote?

How difficult is it to get a branch change at BITS Pilani after first year?

• What is the requisite CGPA to get a branch change at any of the campuses? Is it advisable to join BITS Pilani campus with a branch you don't prefer with the hope of getting a branch change, or choosing Goa or Hyderabad campus with a branch of your choice?

• Answer:

  Branch change after first year depends upon your CGPA and number of seats available.I don't have the data from recent years, but in general CGPA of 9.5+ is usually the cut-off for direct transfer/branch change to Computer Science or Electronics (EEE/E&I). It's pretty competitive to get a branch change after first year because lot of students aim for it and hence they study hard.Therefore, in short - Number of seats, your relative score (CGPA), and branch you want to get into are the parameters to be considered. Usually, CSE has the highest cut-off, followed by EEE, E&I, Mech, and so on .., but it may vary from batch to batch and preference of the students.Overall, It's competitive but achievable (as few students do it every year).Having said this, BITS offer dual degrees as well where a student can opt for MSc + BE dual degree (5 year programme instead of 4 year) after first year.
