How do I get my product developed?

I have an idea for a product but do not have the means/knowledge to create it. How/where can I pitch this product idea to try and get it developed while profiting off of it?

• The product is not allowed to be submitted on websites like Quirky because the idea is one of the following: a pill, gummy, or strip. It is to be placed on the tongue and either chewed or dissolved in the mouth. I'm not sure how to categorize it, but it is for health and fitness purposes. It is not food or medicine, but possibly a supplement. It seems to me like a very plausible idea that shouldn't be too difficult to create, but would probably involve chemists, nutritionists, etc. (I'm not sure how to create it). So any advice as to where I can pitch the idea to see if it's worthwhile to attempt to make would be greatly appreciated! I'm sorry that I'm not explaining the idea, I know that would be helpful.   What is the closest you can get to creating your product so that you can test demand for it? Have you thought about a kickstarter? Have you researched what manufacturers can do to create a small batch of something that's similar to what you want your product to be? Talk to some chemists and nutritionists and learn what it would take to both develop your product and to get them to help you create it. Most importantly, test if people would actually pay money for your idea. Run some Craigslist ads and see if anyone calls you. Validate that there is demand for it beyond just having your friends tell you it's cool and that they would buy. That means nothing until you get actual money from them, and preferably actual money from strangers.
