Where To Buy Bitcoins Online?

How has Circle been able to allow users to buy Bitcoins using their credit cards?

  • Many services tried to accept credit card payments for Bitcoins in 2012 and all of them have folded.  (See )  There are too many problems with fraudulent chargebacks (especially since Bitcoins are not a physical good) and Mastercard/Visa don't like it either.

  • Answer:

Circle has announced their plans for allowing purchases with credit or debit cards and has acknowledged that they are aware of the fraudulent chargeback risks.  They've said that they will closely watch how it works out. However, Circle is not yet broadly available.  You need an invite to get an account, and from my experience those are not being distributed widely.  So the people using it now may not be representative of the public at large. Chargebacks will happen, especially as they open up to a wider audience.  Only then can they decide whether they can accept this as a cost of doing business, or whether they'll have to somehow alter their plans.
